About

I am Yanan He (何雅男), an M.S. student in Computer Science at Yale University (2026–present), where I work in the NLP lab advised by Prof. Arman Cohan.

Before Yale, I completed my B.S. in Computer Science, Mathematics, and Statistics at Purdue University (2023–2026), where I also collaborated with Prof. Tengfei Ma at Stony Brook University.

Research Interests

I try to understand why AI does what it does, why it sometimes doesn't, and how that understanding can help us build better models.

  • Model Behavior & Interpretability — understanding what models internally represent and why they succeed or fail.
  • Post-training — exploring how to make post-training both efficient and performant.
  • Reasoning & Memory — building efficient memory mechanisms that support long-horizon reasoning.

I am always happy to chat — about research ideas, potential collaborations, or anything in between. Feel free to reach out!
